10 Questions With Devin Cole (by Darrick Patrick)

Devin Cole is a professional mixed martial artist who has appeared in organizations such as the International Fight League, World Extreme Cagefighting, X Fighting Championships, National Fighting Challenge, UCF, and SportFight.

Darrick: What was the path that led you to professional mixed martial arts?

Devin: After I finished my college wrestling career, I missed competition. I tried to fill this void with coaching, but it wasn't the same. At this time, I was actually coaching Mike Whitehead and he suggested fighting to me. The rest is history.

Darrick: Any words of advice for younger individuals looking to compete in MMA?

Devin: Leave it all out there. Make sure you have prepared properly and you're ready to fight.

Darrick: What does a typical training session for you consist of?

Devin: I practice twice a day in the afternoon after I get off work. The first one is a wrestling practice and the second rotates between Jiu-Jitsu and boxing. I also do cardio in the morning.

Darrick: Who is someone that greatly influenced you while growing up?

Devin: I have always looked up to my uncle, Randy Barklow.

Darrick: What brings you the most fulfillment out of martial arts?

Devin: I love competition. There is nothing better than going out there and beating someone when you know that they have given the fight all that they had, but you still came out with your hand raised.

Darrick: Who is someone in the sport that you highly respect?

Devin: I have to say the person I respect the most is Randy Couture. Not only is he an amazing athlete, but he is a down-to-earth normal guy despite all the fame.

Darrick: Outside of MMA, what are your other interests?

Devin: I like doing stuff outdoors, whether it is camping, rafting, or hunting. I also still coach wrestling, so that takes up most of my spare time in the winter.

Darrick: If you were the last person alive on Earth, what would you do to entertain yourself?

Devin: After watching I Am Legend, I would have to say I'd entertain myself with a fast car. Zooming around empty streets looked like fun.

Darrick: What is your oldest memory?

Devin: My brother passing away from crib death when I was two.

Darrick: Tell us something about you that most people don't know.

Devin: I am currently pursuing my Master of Arts degree for high school teaching.
