10 Questions With Anthony Perosh (by Darrick Patrick)

Anthony "The Hippo" Perosh is a professional mixed martial artist who has competed in organizations such as the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Warriors Realm, Cage Fighting Championships, Spartan Reality Fight, and Shooto Australia. He is also the chief instructor alongside Elvis Sinosic for Sinosic-Perosh Martial Arts.

Darrick: How did you end up competing professionally in mixed martial arts?

Anthony: It was a natural progression. I first saw the Gracies dominate BJJ like everyone else - I then started BJJ and became successful at it. Then, my training partner Elvis Sinosic started in MMA and I followed.

Darrick: Who is someone that greatly influenced you while growing up?

Anthony: My brother has been there through good and bad, and I highly value his advice.

Darrick: What brings you the most fulfillment out of martial arts?

Anthony: Testing my skills in the ring and also seeing my students succeed.

Darrick: Any words of advice for younger individuals looking to compete in MMA?

Anthony: Don't rush it and get on top. (Smiles)

Darrick: For those who aren't familiar with Sinosic-Perosh Martial Arts, what's the scoop on that?

Anthony: SPMA is a machine. It is now two full-time schools in Sydney with a total of five hundred students. Elvis Sinosic and myself are the owners and operators of this machine - teaching BJJ, Thai kickboxing, and MMA.

Darrick: Who is someone in the sport that you highly respect?

Anthony: GSP (Georges St. Pierre) is the total package. He can do it all in the ring and is just as good outside of the ring.

Darrick: Outside of mixed martial arts, what are your other interests?

Anthony: I like to catch up with friends and family - and hang out at cafes, restaurants, or at the movies.

Darrick: If you were stuck in a bomb shelter for the rest of your life, what three items would you take in with you besides food and water?

Anthony: A Bible, laptop (with internet connection), and a pillow. I can sleep on the floor with the pillow, keep up with the world on my laptop, and prepare to meet my maker by reading the Bible.

Darrick: What is your oldest memory?

Anthony: My grandfather digging in the backyard.

Darrick: Tell us something about you that most people don't know.

Anthony: My first job was working in a small goods (salami, etc.) factory from five a.m. to five p.m. during school holidays to make some cash.
