10 Questions With Elton Chavez (by Darrick Patrick)
Elton Chavez is a professional mixed martial artist who has competed in organizations such as King Of The Cage, Duneland Classic, Madtown Throwdown, Corral Combat Classic, Bourbon Street Brawl, and United Fight League.
Darrick: What was the road that led you to professional mixed martial arts competition?
Elton: High school wrestling started it all for me, then I found Jiu-Jitsu. I ended up going to a MMA event, jumped into an eight man tournament, and won. Then they gave me some cash - I was hooked.
Darrick: Who is someone in the sport that you highly respect?
Elton: Miguel Torres - his work ethic is just insane.
Darrick: What does a typical training session for you consist of?
Elton: I love to train hard. I train four to five days a week with a minimum of two hours a night. Lots of Thai, Jiu-Jitsu, and no gi.
Darrick: In your experience so far, what brings you the most fulfillment out of martial arts?
Elton: I really like the crowd and the roar when you blast the shit out of your opponent. And the win money is nice too!
Darrick: Any words of advice for other individuals looking to compete in MMA?
Elton: Make sure your game is tight, this shit's for real. Hands up, chin down.
Darrick: Who is someone that greatly influenced you while growing up?
Elton: My older brother pushed me real hard in high school wrestling and in life.
Darrick: Outside of MMA, what are your other interests?
Elton: Just chillaxin' with the familial.
Darrick: If you had superpowers, what would they be?
Elton: X-ray vision!
Darrick: What is your oldest memory?
Elton: Dad pulling out the gun. (Laughs)
Darrick: Tell us something about you that most people don't know.
Elton: This one's got me - I'm an open book.
