Training in martial arts has loads of benefits, and this was what I learned while I was researching and gathering references to jumpstart with my term paper writing task in the next three days. My topic is about martial arts, of course!
The most obvious advantage is know-how of self-defense techniques—one of the major reasons why strategies were developed so to speak. After all, knowing how to defend thyself nowadays is an asset.
Second benefit is for health and wellness. Learning karate, taekwondo, kung-fu and so on helps one's cardio-vascular system, and it also tones the muscles. One's strength will also increase, as techniques on how to use it efficiently will also be taught.
Third, martial arts have a mental and at times spiritual elements that improve one's mind focus as well as self-control. There are martial artists who have found inner peace after going through rigorous training—they are able to control their anger and fear better, and they learned how to deal and manage their day-to-day stresses more effectively.
Above all, becoming more disciplined—one benefit that is usually absent in other sports. Respect is something that the martial arts instructors emphasize in their class and inculcate among their students.
