Will Shogun Finally Tame The Dragon?
Posted On 11/26/2009 01:28:27

After Mauricio "Shogun" Rua's controversial match against light heavyweight champion Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida, Dana White scrambled for the rematch to take place early next year before the fans erupt because of the flawed decision from the judges. Many fight fans and critics saw that Shogun clearly won the match based on damage dealt, octagon control, defensive strategies and aggression. After the fight, Shogun was barely damaged while the Dragon limped of to the locker room due to Shogun's devastating leg kicks to his lead leg. Personally, after I wrote my term paper for school that night, I watched the whole fight with unblinking eyes and there was no way in hell Lyoto MAchida won that fight. The UFC as an organization should tweak some of the technical aspects of the game like the scoring system (maybe even fire some judges in the process) because fans and fighters alike are tired of bad decisions.

Although no formal and final date is set for the long-awaited rematch, inside, reliable sources revealed that the fight is scheduled around the first or second quarter next year. Both fighters are aiming for a decisive victory, ready to deliver a conclusive fight that can't be touched by the judges. Shogun is gearing up to prove that he won the fight and that he could do it again while Lyoto is raring to prove that he still deserves his belt and that their is something behind the judges decision's that escaped the eyes of the fans.

Whatever happens, I'm really glad that the rematch would finally push through and that the fans will get the fight that they deserve. Will Shogun still use his muay thai leg kicks that took out Machida's leg and mobility or take the fight to the ground where he has a clear advantage? Will Machida rise up to the challenge and criticisms and be more aggressive, pushing the fight as he should have done as the champion, just like he did when he knocked out the likes of Thiago Silva and Rashad Evans? I hope that I finish all my assignments for the paper writing service I work for so that I would have enough money for tickets because I wouldn't miss this epic rematch for anything in the world. And should the judges make another flawed decision, I would be at ringside to cast the first stone. Watch out, Cecil Peoples, keep your eyes open!
